With the first official launch of the comic series; Energy Quest, Peter Magro will be giving a talk and taking questions regarding inspiration, creative process, themes and the techniques behind the artistic and writing process of the comic itself.

Besides being a launch in its timing, this event encourages open discussion as well as questions for the creator by the attending audience.

About the speaker:

Since a young age Peter Magro has been fascinated by the world of comics and narrative. Strengthened with a background in digital art (MFADA) and art education, comics have played an important part in Peter’s life, both for personal entertainment and academic purposes.

This line of artistic work led Peter to hone his skills through various media, excelling in traditional media such as Ink and amalgamating a gritty hand-drawn approach with the precision of digital media. This marriage of both disciplines has allowed Peter to explore different styles according to mood and theme. Peter is also well acquainted with acrylics, graphite and watercolours, and applies his versatile skillset according to subject matter, be it sequential narrative or otherwise.

Peter’s past work consists of local graphic novel S.T.E.A.M.: Island Under Siege (2015) (Story by Ashley Eric Peschel , Youth Guarantee Malta’s A Guidebook to SEC Revision Classes (2018), and two short graphic novels for adolescents: Back in Time with Nannu Salv (2019) (Written by Liz Mallia) and Taħt (2019) (written by Ivan Ellul Xuereb). His own personal comic series, Energy Quest (2022) is his latest addition to the list of works.

Peter has also participated within the area of fine arts, experimenting with hand-drawn animation as part of a collaborative exhibition at Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta (Ode to a Stone, Ennead, 2021).

Peter is also currently chairperson of NGO Graphic Novels Library Malta (GNLM) and works closely with Central Public Library Malta with the aim to attract local talent for projects within the near future.
