Graphic Novels Library Malta (GNLM) 
and Malta Libraries 
are organising an 8-session course with artists and experts in the field this Summer 2023 for participants aged 
. The course is designed to provide a holistic overview of the genre and to tutor in the 
creative process of comic/manga making! 
LESSON 1: Wednesday 12th July
‘An Introduction to the Course and the History of Comics’ with Dean Fenech.
LESSON 2: Wednesday 19th July
‘Character Design’ a hands-on workshop with Dean Fenech.
LESSON 3: Wednesday 26th July
‘Colour/Digital’ a hands-on workshop with Vincienne Scerri.
LESSON 4: Saturday 5th August
‘Exposure to the Maltese Comic World’ with Fabio Agius (Wicked Comics).
LESSON 5: Wednesday 9th August
‘Comic Text and Inking’ a hands-on workshop with François Galea.
LESSON 6: Wednesday 16th August
‘Writing and creating a story’ a hands-on workshop with Ashley Eric Peschel.
LESSON 7: Wednesday 23rd August
‘Comic Making/Narrative to Comic’ PT1 – prep for the main project with Redent Camilleri.
LESSON 8: Wednesday 30th August
‘Comic Making/Narrative to Comic’ PT2 – prep for the main project with Redent Camilleri.
END OF COURSE: Students will be given 2 weeks to complete their project which will then be compiled into a limited-edition commemorative publication.
The full course is being offered at a discounted rate of €50 per person courtesy of GNLM and Malta Libraries. All sessions will be held at Central Public Library – Malta (in Floriana).
Every student is required to bring their own:
• Ink Pens ranging between any sizes 0.1 – 0.8 point,
• HB Pencil,
• Sharpener,
• Eraser,
• Long Ruler (30cm),
• A4 blank papers (thickness not a requisite however ideally over 100gsm).
