Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege – a review by James Aquilina

Till all are one! The first arc of the Netflix Transformers War for Cybertron trilogy (which unfortunately is not tied to the underrated War for / Fall of Cybertron games) is a love letter to the fans as it greatly respects the Robots in Disguise’s G1 era, taking great inspiration from both the original film and animated series! Great character designs and visuals really make this show stand out. Unfortunately, the voice acting leaves a lot to be desired. Peter Cullen will always be my Optimus Prime, but his successor didn’t have the same level of gravitas or resonance as his predecessor! Speaking of Optimus Prime, there were multiple times where the Autobot leader didn’t even  act like Optimus Prime. Instead of being the wise and tactical genius that we all know, he came across as being reckless, and stubborn. Despite a lacklustre cliffhanger and the story being constrained to six 20+ minute episodes, it was still entertaining to watch. I pray to the Allspark that once the second arc drops, they’ll learn from their mistakes, otherwise the trilogy is as dead as Cybertron after the war.
