Kate Brown
Kate Brown lives and works full-time making comics in Oxford. In early 2010, she was awarded the Arts Foundation Fellowship for Graphic Novels, and used it to fund the completion of a self-published comic titled Fish + Chocolate, which has since been picked up for publication in hardback by SelfMadeHero. Her other recent credits include the all-ages title The Spider Moon for The DFC/The DFC Library, a section in the all-star UK comic NELSON coming from Blank Slate Books in November, and the colours for the Eagle Award-winning webcomic Freakangels. Currently she is writing and drawing The Lost Boy, for the new weekly children”s comic The Phoenix, set to launch in January 2012.
Copies of Fish + Chocolate will be available for sale form the Wicked Comics Stand during the Malta Com Con.
Basic Drawing Tips for Children 2
The children”s workshop”s are a fun way for children with an interest in art to learn some basic tips in drawing while enjoying themselves and mingling with like minded children. The intention of these workshops is to foster an interest in art and nurture the children”s creative instincts. During the workshop Kate will be demonstrating some simple drawing techniques while guiding children step by step to follow her by drawing their own interpretations. All the children under the age of 11 are welcome to attend. However places are limited and past experience has showed that these workshops are very popular so it is advisable for parents to book their children”s attendance in advance.
