Journalism and Politics in Film

Euro Media Forum, in collaboration with Institute for Maltese Journalists, present ‘Journalism and Politics in Film: Presentation and Discussion on All the President’s Men’s Timeless Legacy’ event at Palazzo Depiro on Monday July 1st at 7 p.m. The film ‘All the President’s Men’ explains the troubles and tribulations of two young journalists uncovering the Watergate scandal which eventually led to US President Nixon having to leave his office. It exposes the power of serious journalism to restore justice.

Speaker Rosemarie Dorekens, who wrote a dissertation about journalism and film, will be helped by moderator Fleur Vella to delve into how the portrayal of journalists in film has changed over time. The speaker, who is also a journalist by profession, will speak about the difficulties faced by real journalists today to uncover and publish political scandals. The journalist, Rosemarie Dorekens will also explain how citizen journalism is shaping the journalistic world. The discussion will also centre on what the film All the President’s Men communicates to persons wishing to embark on a journalistic career.

To spice up the evening there will also be a film quiz, with the opportunity to win great prizes. So quiz participants keep your eyes open for clues! This event is being organised in collaboration with the Institute of Maltese Journalists. The event is also being supported by Brevis Corporate Conflict Management, Valletta Living History, Take 1 Movie Store and Eden Cinemas.
